Marmaraereğlisi Tarihi Fransız Deniz Feneri, 1861 yılında Sultan Abdülmecit döneminde Fransızlar tarafından inşa edilmiştir. Marmaraereğlisi koyunun güney ucunda burun üzerine kurulan fener, denizden 53 m yükseklikte olup 10 m kule yüksekliğiyle görev yapmaktadır. Metal kule üzerinde yükselen kule ışığı 16 mil uzaklıktan görünme gücüne sahiptir. Marmaraereğlisi içinden çıkan dar toprak yolla kısa sürede ulaşılan fener ve müştemilat etrafında tel örgü çevresinde dolaşarak burunun her iki yanına gidebilirsiniz.
Fener, çelikten oluşan sekizgen bir kule ve beraberindeki lojmandan oluşmaktadır. Yapının taşıyıcı sistemi kargir olarak belirlenmiş; dış duvarlarda yapılan raspa çalışmalarında duvar örgüsünün moloz taş olduğu ve iç duvarların ise kalınlığı göz önünde bulundurulduğunda harman tuğlası olduğu belirtilmiştir. Deniz tarafından dolaşanlar Perinthos antik kentinden kalma kalıntılar karşılaşırlar, fenerin arka tarafından dolaşanlar balıkçı barınağını ve Marmaraereğlisi’ni yüksekten görebilmektedir.
Ülkemizde deniz fenerleri ziyarete açık değildir. Deniz fenerlerinin halka açılması hem toplumun bilgilendirilmesi hem de kültürel mirasa sahip çıkılması gereğinin yerine getirilmesi açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Belediyemiz bir ilke imza atarak Belediye Başkanımız Sn. Mustafa Onur BOZKURTER’in öncülüğünde Marmaraereğlisi Tarihi Fransız Deniz Fenerini restore ederek halkımızın ziyaretine açmıştır.

Marmaraereğlisi Lighthouse was constructed in 1861 by the French during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid. Located on a headland at the southern end of the Marmaraereğlisi Bay, the lighthouse stands 53 meters above sea level and serves with a tower height of 10 meters. The light mounted on the metal tower is visible from a distance of 16 nautical miles.
The lighthouse and its annex buildings can be reached in a short time via a narrow dirt road starting from Marmaraereğlisi town. Visitors can walk around the fenced area surrounding the site and reach both sides of the headland.
The lighthouse consists of an octagonal steel tower and an accompanying residential building. The load-bearing system of the structure was designed as masonry. Scraping works on the exterior walls revealed that the wall masonry is made of rubble stone, while the interior walls, considering their thickness, are composed of traditional baked bricks.
Those who walk along the seaside encounter remains from the ancient city of Perinthos, while those who walk behind the lighthouse can enjoy an elevated view of the fishing harbor and Marmaraereğlisi.
In Türkiye, lighthouses are generally not open to public visits. Opening lighthouses to the public is important both for raising public awareness and for preserving cultural heritage. With this objective, our Municipality has taken a pioneering step and, under the leadership of our Mayor, Mr. Mustafa Onur Bozkurter, restored the Marmaraereğlisi Lighthouse and opened it to public visitation.
